Famous Winchester Model 98 Breech Loading Signal Cannon from the Bellmore
Johnson Co under exclusive license from the Winchester/Olin Corp.
has been the pride & joy of Yachtsmen and Sportsmen since before
the turn of the last century.
All models
are chambered for a Winchester 10 gauge blank cartridge and are fired
using a string lanyard. Cannon are 16" long, 8" wide &
8" high, weigh 15 lbs. This is a reproduction of the 1898 Winchester
Signal Cannon, exact in every detail, even the original wooden box
has been duplicated. The barrels on all models are machined from solid
round bar and are mounted on cast two wheel undercarriages to the
original specifications. The chrome plated model was offered in the
late thirties. In 1970 the brass presentation model with mahogany
base & brass plaque was introduced as the ultimate luxury gift.
For over
100 years the WINCHESTER '98 has served the yachting world well. used
for signaling sunrise, sunset, Race Duties, including the prestigious
Americas Cup. The Winchester comes on deck to celebrate the 4th of
July, New Years, Birthdays etc. It makes a great Retirement or Commemorative
Gift as well. CAUTION use Winchester Black Powder Blanks Only- The
Winchester Cannon was not designed to accept "live ammunition".
Live shells create additional recoil, and will destroy the breech
