In 1967 Herreshoff authorized George to continue building an authorized reproduction of the Herreshoff Bronze 10 Ga. Saluting Cannon.These cannons are carefully proportioned copies of the cannons used on Navy ships around the world. All cannons sold by the Cannon Store are built to the highest standards. We offer the Herreshoff Saluting Cannon as well as the CG Cannon developed for the US Navy and found aboard the USS Anzio.

A bit of Saluting Cannon History..

Ye Olde Cannon Maker- Herreshoff..
In the tradition of Navel design, third generation L. Fancis Herreshoff built thirteen yachting cannons. Ten of these accompanied the boats he designed and built, and three were privately commissioned and built. In 1967 L. Francis Herreshoff authorized R. Berkeley George of Madison, CT. to continue building the cannons and to date, George has built over 900. These model ship cannons are carefully proportioned copies of the ship's cannons used by the navies of France, England,English colonies and the United States of America after it's independence. Little variation of these classic (1750-1865) cannons proportions has taked place. Herreshoff's standards and guidelines are strictly adhered to by RGB Cannons til today.

Winchester Cannons
The Famous Winchester_Model_98 Breech Loading Signal Cannon exact in every detail to the orriginal Winchester Signal Cannon, has been the pride and joy of yachtsmen & sportsmen before the turn of the 19th century. In 1970 the Winchester Brass Presentation Model complete with mahogany base and brass plaque was introduced as a luxury gift. For over 100 years. The Winchester '98' has served the yachting world well. Used for signaling sunrise & sunset. The Winchester comes on deck each year to celebrate the 4th of July, New Years, Birthdays ect. It finds use in yacht race duties including the prestigious America Cup.

Big Bang Cannons
The BIG BANG CANNON has been in continuous production since 1912, the BIG BANG was invented by a Lehigh University professor and was originally made in glass yo illustrate the safe process which could generate a "BIG BANG" - without the glass breaking!
